While a pretty expensive book stand, this thing is sturdy and very obviously exceptionally built. Unlike most modern garbage products (which Amazon seems to have in ready supply), this feels like it’s built to last, and well-planned in many aspects. I found the inventor’s videos on YouTube very helpful for understanding how the stand works and best practices. The stand folds small enough to fit in my backpack, and is quite light, so I can use it for textbook studying. Overall 10/10 purchase, I would highly recommend.
I bought it for Bible study as it’s easier to read with the book at an angle. It is well made and sturdy even for a thick Bible although the page holders aren’t worth the trouble especially for a book with very thin pages. Worth the money.
good design good quality - a little pricey
I used this to read about 1/3 of a 600 pg book that I’d already started and I tried (and failed) to start a 850 pg book with it. The page holders could not accommodate this kind of reading. Of you’re using the page holders on a slim book, they work very well. Not they quickly become overly tight at 500 pages or less.
The base and arm are well designed and are of high quality. They have a mounting point which would allow it to be fully extended in any direction. However, the wood is unlikely to survive normal use. I’d recommend a redesign with some metal support so you’re never pivoting the wood directly.
The included tools can (and must) be used to tighten and loosen the arm. But I think designing it with hand tightenable wing nuts would make the device truly portable.
If the page holders would have fit larger books, I would have melt the book holder. But I decided to return it. For $75 I need it to be used for ask my reading, not just slimmer books. I hope version 2.0 is released soon.
It is a great bookstand and magazine stand. It does not have page holders that interfere with my ability to read without having to move the page holders.
