A heavy textbook changes the geometry of your workspace the moment you prop it up. Why textbook elevation needs a safety plan
Textbooks are awkward loads. Their weight is not evenly distributed, their covers can be slick, and an open book shifts as pages move from one side to the other. A thin cookbook or e-reader may sit happily on a light stand. A large medical, law, engineering, or religious text asks much more of its support system.
